Coaching for Enhanced Learning

This DVD-based school development course looks in detail at the issues surrounding Coaching, an activity that is increasingly recognised as a highly effective way of:

  • Enhancing teaching and learning
  • Building successful teams
  • Adding to the professional achievement and enjoyment of individual teachers

The course is divided into three modules:

1. The Coaching Ethos:
Establishes the context and explores what coaching is and how it needs to be understood in schools.

2. The Coaching Process:
Looks at preparing for coaching, setting coaching objectives, the lessons and feedback sessions as well as examples of personalised learning achieved in the featured lessons so that there is a clear understanding of the process.

3. The Benefits of Coaching:
Focuses on the many benefits of the coaching process both for the pupils, teachers and school.

The Individual Learning Guide provides an outline of the course structure along with additional resources, excersises and learning points that develop teachers' knowledge and understanding of the process and how they can use it effectively in their own school.

Learning From Each Other is a powerful and motivating professional development tool that can be used in a range of contexts such as:

  • For individual study
  • Within a learning set
  • In a larger group

Learning From Each Other was Developed in conjunction with Calderdale Council.

“The DVD is excellent. You must be very proud and rightly so of this accomplishment. Thank you for letting us see it. You must have had an excellent and very professional crew to make this. It is on a par with anything I have seen produced here at the DfES. This is rarely the case when we have media material submitted to us.”

“I had the opportunity to take a good look at the materials and was very impressed with them. Not only the content and manner of presentation, but also in the technical aspects.”
